At the YMCA, the training of our staff is a continuous investment—both in their personal development and in enhancing the skills necessary to provide safe and high-quality guidance to children in a camp environment.
Recognizing that modern social conditions, children’s needs, policies and the demands of camp life are constantly evolving, we have developed a new and upgraded training program that prepares our counselors to confidently meet the challenges of their roles.
This year’s training enhancement is not just a change—it is a strategic decision aimed at ensuring that our camps continue to offer to children who participate, an environment of trust, safety, and unforgettable experiences.
This summer, youth born in 2010 will have the opportunity to choose one of the following three (3) training programs for their participation:
- Educational Training Center – Nymfaio
- Adventures in Pindos
- Adventures in Pelion
Participation in one of these programs is mandatory for all those who wish to take on leadership roles in our summer camp programs in the coming years.
This year’s change marks a necessary strategic evolution in our staff training program. Our goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills they need before assuming leadership roles at the YMCA Pelion and Chalkidiki camps, ensuring they become role models in leadership and educational guidance.
The programs at the Educational Training Center – Nymfaio, Adventures in Pindos and Pelion, will focus on the responsibilities of Camp sub-counselors and counselors. Participants will return to camp the following year fully prepared and confident in their new roles, having gained comprehensive training in leadership, team management, social behavior, and camp regulations.
Key Training Topics
These programs will offer participants an intensive learning experience, covering key topics such as:
- Crisis Management
- Effective Communication with Children & Proper Engagement Techniques
- Conflict Resolution Training through Case Studies
These topics will be practically applied in real-time scenarios during the programs, combining both theoretical learning and hands-on experience.
