Judo Academy

Judo (ju = gentleness, do = the way) is a Japanese martial art suitable for all ages. It includes a variety of techniques such as falls, throws, and holds.

In Childhood: Judo aims at the holistic development of children, focusing on their physical, cognitive, and emotional improvement. Children learn to control and protect their bodies through specially designed falls, while also understanding and recognizing their physical abilities through throwing and holding techniques.

In Adolescence: Young athletes advance in acquiring high technical skills. At the same time, they improve their physical fitness, gaining strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, and balance.

In Adulthood: Judo serves as an alternative method of both physical and mental exercise, promoting the value of exercise and socialization.

The Judo team of YMCA Thessaloniki was the first established in Northern Greece and has a proud history of champions and athletes who have represented national teams.
