Water Polo

Water polo is one of the most successful sports provided by YMCA Thessaloniki. It is characterized by the skill, strength, and speed of players in the water. Key aspects of the sport include physical conditioning, technique, competitive spirit, teamwork, and fair play.

Water polo was first played in the Thermaic Gulf by YMCA Thessaloniki athletes in the 1930s. It was later introduced at the YMCA Thessaloniki campsite in Agios Ioannis Pelion, as part of the camp’s sports and swimming activities.

YMCA Thessaloniki water polo team, one of the newer teams in the physical education department, was officially founded in 1989. It has celebrated numerous titles and distinctions over the years.

Our highly skilled coaches work diligently to ensure that our athletes build a strong foundation for their mental and physical development within the broader goals of amateur sports that our organization supports.

We maintain competitive teams across all age groups. Our men’s team competes in the B National category.
