TOGETHER AS A FAMILY

For the 14th year, the modern family and its complex needs remain at the center of our focus and serve as inspiration for our programs. The YMCA Thessaloniki, through its program unit “YMCA Thessaloniki – My Second Home,” aims to play a larger role in creating strong and healthy bonds between members of the modern family, while also providing a creative outlet for parents and children from socially vulnerable populations.

Parenthood is a significant aspect of an individual’s life, bringing about a series of changes to their daily routine. The modern family faces a wide range of pressures and potential problems at various levels, and its needs are becoming more complex. Addressing the basic needs of children, providing the essentials, dealing with children’s developmental difficulties, helping with schoolwork, and fostering quality time for relationships and interaction between parents and children are some of these needs.

Experiences of quality interaction between parent(s) and child(ren) are a modern challenge for today’s family, as they can serve as a key point of contact between parents and children, bringing them closer together and strengthening family bonds. This can be an important factor in the “health” of the modern family.

Inspired by this challenge is the program “Together as a Family.”

General Information about the Program

• Includes meetings and workshops for parents and children.
• Aimed at school-aged children from 4 to 12 years old.
• Takes place on Sundays at 11:00 am and lasts for 2 to 3 hours.
• Includes activities for the whole family, such as pastry workshops, robotics, theater pedagogy, creative outings, and outdoor activities.
• Gives priority to parents with low income (up to €12,000), unemployed individuals, as well as single-parent and large families, along with the order of registration.
• The program is coordinated by Fotini Mouratidou, an Educator and Theater Specialist with an MA in Creative Writing.
• Registration is required, and participation is free of charge.

Μετά την πρώτη περίοδο που ολοκληρώθηκε με απόλυτη επιτυχία, το Πρόγραμμα «Μαζί, ως οικογένεια» συνεχίζεται με στόχο να αγκαλιάσει ακόμη  περισσότερα παιδιά και γονείς.
