Social Contribution – Volunteering

Today, more than ever, the need for help and support is growing daily, and these needs are increasing. Although general restrictions may delay our activities, offering help to others cannot be postponed!

We understand that the days we are all experiencing are difficult and the struggles we face daily for our children and families are tough. However, reflecting on the challenging year that has passed, we can confidently say that, amidst truly harsh circumstances, the YMCA Thessaloniki, with a high sense of responsibility, managed to operate its programs and provide hundreds of children with the opportunity to participate in them. This allowed them to develop their skills, socialize, and fill their lives with new images and experiences that will stay with them throughout their lives, momentarily forgetting – even if just for a while – the routine of this challenging daily life, which can be a difficult adjustment for many.

In response to these unprecedented conditions, YMCA Thessaloniki has a duty to society and especially to its children and young members, to adapt and support them in any way possible. Many of its activities and programs are realized thanks to the support and activation of all its members, including professionals, volunteers, board members, children, and parents, both morally and materially – financially.

It is our principle that every member of YMCA Thessaloniki from the youngest to the oldest, should be able to give and contribute to this cause, some more and some less, understanding that even the smallest contribution from some can be significant for the children and for our Association.

To be able to offer even more in the current and especially in the new year and inspired by the great success of similar efforts in the past, we ask you to become part of YMCA Thessaloniki’s social contribution for a society of opportunities!

The Example of Contribution…

Every year, for about a month, during the festive periods of Christmas or Easter, YMCA Thessaloniki organizes actions and events aimed at social awareness and experiential education on issues of volunteering and social contribution.

The Department of Training for Staff & New Volunteers plays an active role in this, building experiences through experiential education based on daily life and social reality. Trained individuals are called to participate effectively in such actions, taking on roles in organization, support, and active contribution.

As part of its educational program and awareness-raising efforts, the trainees of the Staff School actively participate and practically support volunteer actions, social contribution, and hands-on support throughout the years of the program’s operation.

In this context, part of the program meetings is dedicated to social contribution and raising awareness among young people about supporting and assisting our fellow humans!
