In the 100 years of its operation in Thessaloniki, YMCA Thessaloniki and Sport are synonymous and, even, identical concepts.

The fundamental principle of YMCA Thessaloniki is what is symbolized by its emblem, i.e. the equilateral triangle, which expresses the globally recognized triptych of Soul-Body-Spirit, which is uniformly and equally developed by its members in their activities within the Organization.

Every day the Organization is a meeting place for young people, whom it takes care to “train” not only their Body and Soul but also their Spirit. YMCA Thessaloniki through its ideals, principles and philosophy, has as a top priority to instill in young people ideals and values such as: respect, appreciation to teammates and opponents, solidarity in the sense of effort, collective discipline, team spirit, adherence to the rules of the game. At the same time, to cultivate the right mentality of competition and rivalry, to highlight the value of victory and the benefits of defeat, to create good athletes and true fans. Its aim remains the creative connection of the ancient Greek sporting spirit of “fair play” with the standards of modern times.

With faith in sports culture, it provides all the appropriate infrastructure, while its specialized staff stands by the side of young people at every step, highlighting their skills and strengthening, with the best sports practices, their competitive development.

In its modern era, YMCA Thessaloniki cultivates 15 sports at academy level (basketball, volleyball, handball, table tennis, table tennis, tennis, football, swimming, water polo, judo, tae kwon do, chess, archery, fencing, modern pentathlon, (basketball, volleyball, volleyball, handball, table tennis, table tennis, football, swimming, water polo, judo, taekwondo, chess, wheelchair basketball) and 11 sports at the competitive level (basketball, volleyball, handball, table tennis, football, swimming, water polo, judo, taekwondo, chess, wheelchair basketball) have more than 2. 000 athletes and sportspeople and has state-of-the-art, privately owned sports facilities.
