Sponsorships

YMCA Thessaloniki is a charitable, non-profit organization. Its revenues come from membership fees, participation in paid programs, generous sponsorships from foundations and businesses, and donations from individuals and legal entities.

Beyond the programs offered to its members for a fee, YMCA Thessaloniki has a rich history of social action and contribution, providing scholarships for its programs to people in need and offering free programs to vulnerable social groups (e.g., unemployed individuals, single-parent families).

Today, the times demand that YMCA Thessaloniki strengthens its social contribution programs, and to remain resilient, it needs the support of the community.

In recent years, the economic crisis affecting our country has led to a continuous deterioration of living conditions at all levels, resulting in a dramatic increase in the number of families, children, and young people at risk of being trapped in the vicious cycle of poverty and social exclusion. With the goal of responding to these new conditions and thanks to the generous donations from Foundations in the country, we are expanding and strengthening the actions of YMCA Thessaloniki and its social mission. The support of organizations and companies through donations and sponsorships can further amplify the impact of YMCA Thessaloniki’s Social Action in society and act as an accelerator for benefits.

YMCA Thessaloniki successfully implemented a program titled “Like in the Past: Recreational Activities by Youth for the Elderly,” as part of the “Points of Support” program, co-funded by the TIMA Charitable Foundation, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, and the philanthropic organization Hellenic Hope, with the aim of providing creative recreation for the elderly. Specifically, it is an artistic initiative aimed at elderly people, with the goal of their entertainment and social activation, utilizing their memories of television shows. Organized performances by a group of professional actors took place at the Municipal Centers for the Elderly of Thessaloniki and the Charisio Care Home, starting in September 2016 and concluding in November 2016.

With the generous funding of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, YMCA Thessaloniki implemented an educational environmental program and purchased boats. The educational program “Young Volunteers for the Environment” included the creation of an urban garden and gardening activities for the students of YMCA’s nursery and kindergarten, as well as an environmental awareness campaign for approximately 1,000 students from selected schools in the city. This included the production of a children’s book and CD, which were distributed for free and presented to students and teachers through the method of “story painting.” The Program was implemented during the period 2012–2013.

Since 2012, YMCA Thessaloniki has had a cooperation protocol with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra to carry out joint activities, aiming to spread music education among the youth and the wider public of the city. Each year, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra offers its Christmas concert for purposes of YMCA Thessaloniki. The concert’s proceeds are allocated each year for the purposes and social mission of YMCA Thessaloniki.

An agreement of cooperation between the ARSAKIA SCHOOLS OF THESSALONIKI, which belong to the “PHILEKPEDEFTIKI ETAIRIA,” a historic non-profit educational foundation with 182 years of history, and YMCA Thessaloniki was signed on November 5, 2018. At the center of the joint social contribution, volunteerism, and environmental awareness efforts of these two historic institutions in our city is “the child and the adolescent” who “learn, are educated, play, discover, contribute, act, and interact.”

In 2019, the three-year cooperation agreement between the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the YMCA Thessaloniki was renewed, having originally been signed on Thursday, March 3, 2016. The collaboration aims to leverage the strengths of both organizations to implement activities, events, and programs with a common goal of providing lasting benefits to the citizens of Thessaloniki.

A three-year cooperation agreement between the American College Anatolia and YMCA Thessaloniki was signed in June 2017. The cooperation expresses their mutual appreciation and desire to work more closely together in designing and implementing joint activities, events, workshops, and programs aimed at promoting the human value of volunteerism. It also explores the possibility of launching a joint Corporate Social Responsibility program with the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

A cooperation agreement between the Hellenic Society for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage and YMCA Thessaloniki was signed on December 14, 2015. The two organizations have collaborated for 25 consecutive sessions on the “City Walks” Program, which introduces participants to the monuments and historical sites of the wider Thessaloniki area. The parties desire this cooperation to continue and to be enriched with other actions.

A three-year cooperation agreement between the Friends of the American Farm School Association and YMCA Thessaloniki was signed on Monday, November 23, 2015. The cooperation involves the implementation of joint activities, events, and programs aimed at promoting the human value of volunteerism and educating youth and the broader public of the city about volunteerism.

The “DE LA SALLE” College and YMCA Thessaloniki have renewed their cooperation, which concerns joint actions and events of solidarity, volunteerism, and service. These two historic institutions of our city, with a long tradition in education, sports, and social contribution, are joining forces to help even more children and young people.

“Together and in partnership,” “DE LA SALLE” and YMCA Thessaloniki, through joint educational and volunteer programs, are pioneering new ways of “learning.” In this way, children will have the opportunity to gain experiences, create, collaborate, and live the human values, building with joy, faith, and hope, both their own future and that of their fellow human beings.
